Core Muscles

There are 4 core muscles which provides stability to your back. Imagine your abdominal area as a room. The ceiling of the room is made by Diaphragm (your breathing muscle), front and the side walls are made by transversus abdominus (the muscles which covers your tummy under your 6 pack abs. The back wall is made by multifidus (little muscles at your spine) and the floor is made by the pelvic floor muscles (located at your vagina all the way to tailbone).

Ordinary base of the building gives ordinary stability to the building. Similarly, ordinary vaginal muscles (pelvic floor muscles), give ordinary stability to the spine & back.

Ordinary Base = Ordinary Stability

Stronger base of the building gives better stability to the building. Similarly, stronger vaginal muscles (pelvic floor muscles), give better stability to the spine & back.

Stronger Base = Better Stability

What causes back pain?

Back pain is one of the most common problems faced by women.

Back pain can be due to muscles strain, ligament sprain, abnormal shape of the spine, degenerated disc, Osteoporosis etc. which needs to be treated by physical therapists or orthopedics as per need.

When our core muscles, particularly the pelvic floor muscles, are weak, they fail to properly support the back. Another crucial factor is the looseness of vaginal muscles, which can be caused by pregnancy, childbirth, weight gain, poor posture, lack of exercise

What is the connection between
pelvic floor muscles and back pain?

Pelvic Floor muscles are one of the major components of core muscles which are responsible for stability of the spine. If the pelvic floor muscles are weak (not enough healthy tightness in vagina or vaginal looseness) they will not do their role of providing stability properly and so other muscles also cannot function properly which compromises your back stability and results in low back pain.
